DIVERSITY, British Values & Cultural Capital
Moorgate is an inclusive school and we pride ourselves on this; we welcome all children and families regardless of race, culture, religion, disability, gender identity and family diversity. We celebrate diversity and embrace the positive impact that a diverse community has on our pupils. We are incredibly proud that we were awarded the Lancashire Quality Mark Award for Equality and Diversity in July 2024!
As part of our diverse curriculum, we link with 8 partner schools in Africa through the Ripple Africa Project. The Ripple Africa charity supports children and schools in Malawi. Take a look at this video which shows the children playing with number cards which our children made and sent to them.
In 2023-2024, we completed the Lancashire School Linking Programme with a diverse Nursery School in Nelson - Bradley Nursery School. The teams from both schools formed good working relationships, and the children were able to learn about the different communities within modern day Britain. The programme culminated in a celebratory ‘meet up’ where both schools participated in some wonderful drama and music workshops at Burnley Youth Theatre.
All British Values are a part of our everyday teaching and learning, however, we concentrate on one area per half term to ensure children learn more about specific values.
For information regarding how we support Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities children at Moorgate (and SEND policies), please see the 'SEND' tab.
